Big Movers in the Tennis Race for History – 2025 Season
The 2025 season has already delivered some eye-catching moves in the Tennis Race for History, with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner stealing the spotlight. Both players are still at the very start of their careers, and there’s clearly plenty of room left to climb.
Carlitos Alcaraz has made a massive jump, rocketing 45 spots, from No. 87 up to No. 42. Sinner hasn’t been far behind either, climbing 36 places, from No. 77 to No. 41. Big moves, big statements.
As expected, Novak Djokovic remains untouchable at No. 1 in our ranking — and it’s hard to imagine that changing anytime soon.
Also worth highlighting is the steady progress of Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, which makes perfect sense. Both are right in the prime of their careers and sitting in ranking zones where further progress is still very much on the table, especially Rublev. Zverev, for his part, is currently the highest-ranked active player behind the one-of-a-kind Djokovic.
Beyond that, the rest of the active Top 100 hasn’t seen major movement and, realistically, age suggests big jumps are unlikely going forward.
Among them, purely from an age perspective, only Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas still look capable of climbing several more spots — particularly Tsitsipas, if he can finally overcome the struggles of recent seasons, which have fallen short of the huge expectations he created early in his career.
