Wimbledon 2026: Sinner overtakes Alcaraz in the all-time rankings as Djokovic again falls short of Federer’s record

Wimbledon 2026 has shaken up the Tennis Race for History (TRH) standings. Jannik Sinner’s back-to-back triumph at the Cathedral of Tennis not only confirms the Italian as the man to beat on grass right now, but also lifts him above Carlos Alcaraz in the tournament’s all-time ranking.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic once again came within touching distance of another slice of tennis history. The Serbian was chasing an eighth Wimbledon crown, which would have tied Roger Federer’s men’s singles record, but his semifinal defeat to Sinner means that historic milestone will have to wait for at least another year.

Here is the updated Wimbledon all-time ranking following the 2026 edition.

Federer remains the King of Wimbledon

Despite having been retired for several years, Roger Federer still holds an almost untouchable place in Wimbledon history.

The Swiss maestro leads the TRH Wimbledon All-Time Ranking after putting together an extraordinary record at the All England Club:

• 8 titles
• 12 finals
• 22 appearances
• A 105–14 win-loss record

Federer’s dominance on the London lawns remains the gold standard for every generation that has followed.

Novak Djokovic sits just behind him with seven titles, ten finals and a remarkable 107–14 record. His Wimbledon winning percentage is actually slightly better than Federer’s, but that elusive eighth trophy continues to slip through his fingers.

Djokovic falls one win short once again

One of the biggest storylines of Wimbledon 2026 was another missed opportunity for Novak Djokovic.

At 39, the Serbian once again proved that he can still compete at the highest level on the surface where he has built a huge part of his legacy. He reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the 15th time in his career, only to run into a red-hot Jannik Sinner.

The Italian was virtually untouchable and took Djokovic down in straight sets, winning 6–4, 6–4, 6–4.

That defeat prevented Djokovic from drawing level with Federer’s eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles, a record that has stood since 2017.

Even so, the Serbian continues to add to several other all-time records and remains one of the most successful players ever to set foot on Centre Court.

Jannik Sinner keeps climbing the history books

If there was one clear winner coming out of Wimbledon 2026, it was Jannik Sinner.

The Italian successfully defended the title he won the previous year, beating Alexander Zverev 6–7(7), 7–6(2), 6–3, 6–4 in the final. The victory secured his second consecutive Wimbledon crown and the fifth Grand Slam title of his career.

It also had an immediate impact on the historical standings.

Sinner climbs to 12th place in the TRH Wimbledon All-Time Ranking with:

• 2 finals
• 6 appearances
• A 27–4 win-loss record

Crucially, he moves ahead of Carlos Alcaraz, who drops to 13th.

Both players have won two Wimbledon titles, but Sinner currently holds a slightly higher historical score thanks to the consistency and depth of his results at the tournament.

Alcaraz drops one place but still has huge upside

Carlos Alcaraz’s absence from Wimbledon 2026, caused by the physical problems he suffered during the clay-court swing, has had an immediate effect on his historical position.

The Spaniard slips one spot and now sits directly behind Sinner.

Even so, his Wimbledon numbers remain exceptional for a player who is still only 23:

• 3 finals
• 5 appearances
• A 24–3 win-loss record

His 88.9% winning percentage remains one of the best in Wimbledon history. That figure makes it clear that Alcaraz still has plenty of room to climb the standings over the next decade.

The new generation is still a long way behind the legends

One of the most striking features of the all-time ranking is the huge gap that still separates the new generation from Wimbledon’s greatest icons.

Ahead of Sinner and Alcaraz are legendary names such as:

First, Roger Federer remains firmly on his throne as the most successful male player in the tournament’s history.

Djokovic is still within striking distance of the record, although his window of opportunity is getting smaller with every passing season.

At the same time, Sinner continues to rise at breakneck speed. By overtaking Alcaraz, he has established himself as the leading player of the new generation in Wimbledon’s historical standings.

Their rivalry is only just getting started.

If they can maintain their current pace, Sinner and Alcaraz look set to spend the next decade leading the chase and trying to close the enormous gap on Federer and Djokovic at the All England Club.
